Find Your Flow: Pause, Renew, Rise

A week for women leaders at an ocean-front retreat in Costa Rica

March 14-20, 2027 | Limited to 20 women

When did you last feel it?

You know the feeling. You were so absorbed in your work, your art, or whatever gives your life meaning that you hardly wanted to stop. Your energy moved in whatever direction you chose, and the world felt full of possibility.

Maybe it’s been a while. Life ebbs and flows, and there are seasons (after a loss, an illness, a baby, menopause, burnout) when flow feels out of reach. Or maybe your drive carried you past a healthy pace, and the work and people you love now feel like resistance.

Find Your Flow is a week to find it again, and to build the practices that help you keep it long after you fly home.

Is this retreat for you?

This one is for women. It’s for you if:

  • You’ve achieved a lot, but your old ways of working are no longer serving you.
  • You take care of others but feel depleted on the inside.
  • You’ve built a successful career in environments that weren’t designed for women, and it’s taking its toll.
  • You’re tired of being the one to hold it all together for everyone.
  • You’ve earned your place at the table, but you wonder if success must feel this exhausting.
  • You’re an emerging leader and you want to do things differently than the generation ahead of you did.

If you recognized yourself in even one of these, this retreat is for you.

Not a week away, then back to the same old routine

You don’t have to wait until you’re running on empty to learn how to flourish.

We used to bring the experts to a conference. But we recognize that some of the most meaningful learning happens beyond the conference room, so now we’re taking people to more immersive experiences.

Find Your Flow is our next Health Work & Wellness Journey. An experience where learning, travel, reflection, and connection becomes part of the journey. This week is designed to inspire practical, sustainable change, not a temporary lift. You’ll leave rested, and you’ll also leave with tools, rituals, and a circle of women who understand.

Pause. Renew. Rise Differently.

Pause. Step away from the demands, the inbox, and the role of being the one who holds it all together. What might you see more clearly from somewhere entirely new?

Renew. Spend the week at the edge of the ocean, with the most beautiful grounds and beach as your backdrop. Rest deeply. Move with yoga, Pilates, and time in nature. Meditate, take a cold plunge, and breathe the ocean air. The colours alone are almost indescribable.

Rise differently. Workshops grounded in research will give you rituals, practices, and skills you can use at home, including how to:

  • Calm your nervous system and cultivate inner peace and self-compassion
  • Practice mindfulness and presence
  • Build sustainable performance and set healthy boundaries
  • Use gratitude, journaling, and visualization
  • Strengthen resilience and positive emotion

A week at a glance

  • Sunday, March 14: Arrive, settle in, welcome gathering and dinner
  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: Morning movement or meditation, breakfast, workshops, time throughout the day for beach, pool, journaling, and rest. Optional late-afternoon excursions to surrounding areas. Shared dinners and evening reflection.
  • Wednesday: Intentionally left more open for adventure. Join an optional excursion (additional cost), spend a peaceful day on the beach or create your own adventure.
  • Saturday, March 20: Departures

The pace is intentional. There is room to participate fully, and room to have time to do nothing at all.

Meet your facilitators

Deborah Connors

What might you see more clearly from somewhere entirely new?

Deborah Connors has spent more than 25 years bringing people together to learn, grow, and create healthier workplaces and lives. She founded and led the Health Work & Wellness Conference for 17 years, bringing hundreds of people together each year to rethink what was possible at work.

In 2024, a life-changing cancer diagnosis prompted her to ask, “What’s next?” As she put the pieces of her life back together, a new vision emerged: rather than inviting people to a conference of experts, create immersive experiences where learning, travel, reflection, and connection are part of the journey. Welcome to Health Work & Wellness Journeys.

Deborah is an author, speaker, facilitator, journey creator, and storyteller whose work helps people turn complex ideas into practical changes they can actually use.

Mary-Lou MacDonald

What if your success could give you energy, not just take it?

Mary-Lou MacDonald has spent decades helping organizations create places where people genuinely thrive.

As a pioneer, researcher, senior executive in workplace health and performance in Canada, Mary-Lou has led enterprise-wide employee and organizational health, workplace wellbeing and psychological health and safety strategies for public and private sectors.

But her work goes beyond organizational strategy. With a background in kinesiology and elite sport Mary-Lou brings a deeply personal and practical perspective to burnout, boundaries, sustainable performance and the pressure so many women carry to feel they are enough and to keep doing more.

Her message is freeing: You don’t have to prove your worth by exhausting yourself. Your best work comes from a full cup. She helps people reconsider what sustainable success can look like — and design a version of success that feels as good as it looks.

Barbara Piper

What if, when life throws you a curveball, you could stay calm, clear, and still find joy?

Barbara Piper helps people build a deep, practical steadiness: an inner calm that keeps you grounded, warm, and fully present, whether life is gentle or demanding. A program designer and faculty member at the THNK School for Creative Leadership, she is also a trained compassion facilitator through Stanford University’s CCARE Institute and an experienced meditation teacher.

Barbara weaves leadership, compassion, and wellbeing into simple practices you can take home and keep using, so peace isn’t something you find only on retreat but something you carry with you.

Above all, she creates the kind of space where people relax enough to pause, listen to themselves, and discover what they truly need.
